Oral Language in Early Childhood Education

Attached is a link to a series of podcasts featuring speech and language therapist Christian Wright. These are taken from Radio New Zealand interviews over the last couple of years.   They provide valuable information for teachers about the development of oral language in babies and young children and how best to support oral language.  As well as supporting my own knowledge around this area I would also refer parents to them if you are asked questions about children’s oral language.

Here are the titles:

Lisps - when should parents be concerned

Vocabulary Development in Children - What’s normal?

How to spot early signs of language delay

Myths and misunderstandings held by parents regarding children’s speech and language development

Supporting children’s comprehension of our expectations as parents using visual strategies

Reading with pre-schoolers
