Interactions - the concept of serve and return

This Harvard University: Centre for the Developing Child Website highlight the importance of interactions with people to the developing brain during the early years of a child's life. They coin the phrase 'serve and return' (as in ping pong or tennis) to capture the responsiveness through gesture, talk, eye contact, hugs etc so vital to a child's learning and well being.
