Ngā kākano puāwai o Kaikohekohe

Owner: Moana Timoko

Group members: 8

Description:

As part of the Intensive Community ECE Participation project in Kaikohekohe we have developed a range of intiatives to promote Whānau Engagement in Early Learning.

'Ngā kākano puāwai o Kaikohekohe' acknowledges the history and whakapapa of Kaikohekohe.  In a time of need our tūpuna were sustained and nourished by the kohekohe berries - hence the name, Kaikohekohe.  Initiatives have been developed to respond to 'real' community needs and requires commitment and support from networks within Kaikohekohe in order to be sustained.  Our tamariki are likened to the kākano of the kohekohe tree.  We are responsible for nurturing and supporting our tamariki to ensure they flourish.  A range of activities and information will be shared to support whānau with their child's early learning and development.

Regular updates about project initiatives will be posted here, on our Facebook page, and in our VLN group.
