  • Glenda Albon 16 Nov 2014 4:21pm () in Discussion to select an appropriate icon and image that represents your Dunedin Infant and Toddler Network community.

We invite you to contribute your thoughts and comments in relation to an appropriate icon image and concept that represents your Dunedin community. This is your group and you know what is significant to your community.

In Christchurch the Network group uses the image of a Cabbage Tree with the following description:

    Description:

Te Kōuka, the cabbage tree, is historically, a significant tree for Canterbury. Local Maori valued its presence as a land mark to identify routes across the vast Canterbury Plains. The new shoots provided protein to sustain the people as kumara were near impossible to grow. The growth pattern of Te Kōuka reflects the concept of connectedness.

    This group has been established to provide an opportunity for infant and toddler teachers to;

Network with other infant and toddler teachers within the community.

Develop shared understandings about infant pedagogy and practice.

    Share teaching experiences and insights

    • Call on other agencies / organisations – Collaboration opportunities

What things do you value about this Network?

    • For ECE by ECE
    • Nothing else like Futures Network available
    • Value the opportunity to connect as a wider ECE community
    • We value being made aware of other organisations resources and connections that are available for us to access in the community.
    • Seeing regular faces and networking.
    • We have created a platform for inter-centre connections

What suggestions for topics or areas of interest you would like to see covered at the Futures Network Hui?

What else would you like to see happening with this Network?

    • More people attending
    • Widening the Network to include other sectors eg; health, social services           (See Nat for contact with Shirley community Network)
    • Opportunity for more informal networking with agencies that support families with children under 5’s e.g:

    Housing

    Delta House (Shauna)

    Pasifika Trust

    Incredible Years

    Work and Income

    CYFS

    Community Police (Wayne)

    Your questions:

    Post funding structure approaches.?

Can and how does this network keep going once CORE funding goes?

As Learning Community Clusters and other groups re-establish will there be need for this?
